[Legacy] Uninstalling the Legacy Curse Client v5 [CCleaner]

Introduction

This is another option on how to uninstall the Curse Client.  The Curse Client v5 can be uninstalled in a few easy steps.

There are 2 (TWO) parts for properly uninstalling the Curse Client v5.

How to Uninstall Curse Client v5 Using CCleaner

If you don't have CCleaner you can download and use it for free from Piriform's site.

  1. Run CCleaner and click on the 'Tools' button.

  2. Click the 'Uninstall' button.

  3. Scroll through the list of programs installed on your machine untill you find Curse Client.  Click on 'Curse Client'

  4. Click on 'Run Uninstaller' on the right side.

  5. Follow prompts to uninstall the Curse Client.

Note: If you are unable to remove the client, due to an error message, please see this knowledge base article: Corrupted Installation

 

Prompted to Install Client after Uninstalling

If you are prompted to install Curse Client  when Windows starts (after uninstalling it), the uninstall process did not complete entirely. You can complete the process by deleting the 'CurseClientStartup' shortcut from the Startup folder in the Windows Start Menu.

 

For Windows Vista and Windows 7:

Press your Windows Key + R (to open the Run screen) or go to Start >  All Programs >  Accessories > Run

 Enter "%userprofile%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup" and click "OK".

For Windows 8:

swipe up from the bottom of the screen when using Modern UI (If you're using a mouse, please right-click the mouse), then click "All apps".

 Then click "Run".

 Enter "shell:startup" and click "OK".
