[Curse App] [Minecraft] How to Create a Custom Profile
This is currently in Alpha/Beta Stages.
Features may change between now and release!
Creating a Custom Profile allows you to install mods and resource packs you want as well as choose which version of Minecraft and Forge you want to use.
Creating the Profile
Log into Curse client and choose the Minecraft icon tab on the left toolbar.
Next, select CREATE CUSTOM PROFILE from the selection.
Profile Name - Name your profile. It is best to name it something that will help you to know what the profile is about, but keep it brief. Like "Farming Mods for 1.7.1".
Version - Next choose which version of Minecraft you will be playing on. This is important as it will determine which mods you will be able to use. Mods that aren't updated for the version you select may not appear as an option.
Modloader - Last you will want to choose which version of Forge you want to use, if any. Remember you can use the Profile to just play different versions of Vanilla or different types of Resource Packs. Like with the version of Minecraft make sure you pick the version of Forge that works for your mods.
Now hit OKAY, and Curse will create your new Custom Profile.
Custom Profile Details
Hover over the profiles icon until you r see the View Profile option. Then click.
When complete when you select the profile you will be able to see a lot of information about it.
So as mentioned before, keep the name brief so you know what it is at a glance, but you don't need to go to extreme details as a lot of your information will be located in here for you.
Adding Mods, Resource Packs, and Maps... Oh my!
Once you have created your Custom Profile you will want to add in Mods, Resource Packs and/or Maps.
Now remember that based on which version of Forge and Minecraft you selected for your Profile depends on which Mods, Resource Packs and Maps will display for you. Only those that are compatible with the versions of your Profile will be visible. This does not mean that you might not have issues with mods not being compatible with each other.
Select your profile and select which tab you want to download resources for (Mods, Resource Packs, or Maps).
If you have none installed you will see a Get Mods (or Resource Pack/Maps) button. If you already have some installed you will see and GET MORE CONTENT option at the top right of the window.
Select which ever one you have, and this will populate the list of those items available to you. There are multiple ways for you to find the item you want either by searching it's name, looking through categories, sorting by specific criteria, or a combination of any of these.
For this example, we know what we are wanting to download so we're going to search for it by typing in the name of the mod "Forest" into the Search. This brings up the Mod we want to install. Hovering over the mods icon on the right shows the "Install" button.
Clicking the Install button will install "Forestry" for us into our Custom Profile.
Allow it to install. It should only take a few moments depending on the size of the Mod, Resource Pack, or Map, and your connection. Once installed it will appear in your Customer ModPack Profile.
You can now add more Mods, Resource Packs, Maps, update, turn on/off items, or play your pack!
