[Curse App] [WoW] I'm just here for the Addons!!!

The new Curse app comes with many new features, but we know that not everyone wants all the extra bells and whistles.  So to help you  limit the new Curse app to your Addon Management as much as possible we've written up this guide for you.

JUMP TO...

WoW Addons at Launch

Most important is the skipping of the social aspect of the Curse app and going directly to your addons.

Full Guide can be found here.

Click on the World of Warcraft icon on the left bar.  This will be under the Discovery icon, and if you have Minecraft, directly under that.

Then, head over to the upper right corner of your addons page and click on on the cogwheel.

From the drop down menu click on Settings.

Select the GENERAL tab then scroll to SHOW MY ADDONS AT LAUNCH.  Make sure this is toggled so it is green if you want it to launch directly to your addons and red if you want it to launch to the original landing page.

Click DONE, and the next time you launch Curse it will take you directly to your addons!

Disable Friend Sync

Curse allows you to control if you want Curse to sync your friends' list from other platforms like Skype, Battle.net, Steam, etc. with your Contact list in Curse.

Full Guide can be found here.

For this you need to locate the Friend Sync Settings section in the Friend Sync settings.

If this option is turned on it will sync game identities and other friends lists. Note that you will need to login to the account and/or characters you're syncing with Curse running in order for it to be found by our system.

Disable Private Messages

Some people wish to not receive messages from complete strangers.  While other people do not mind.  Because of this, the new Curse client gives you the option to select who you get your messages from.

Full guide can be found here.

You get three options:

Anyone - this allows any Curse client users to send you a private message.

Friends Only - this will only allow messages from those on your contact list.

Only users I PM first - this will restrict messages as replies from those you have already messaged first.

Disable Friend Requests

Whether you want to keep your friends list small to people you know, or allow anyone who uses Curse app to friend you -- we allow you the option to select whichever works best for your needs.

Full guide can be found here.

You get three options:

Anyone - this allows any Curse client users can send you a friend request.

Friends of friends - this allows only people who the both of you share a mutual contact to send you a request.

No one - prevents anyone from sending you a friend request.

Disable In-Game Activity

One of the greatest things about the Curse app is how it works with games.  This is one such feature.  It broadcasts to your contact list the game you are currently logged into by adding the game's icon next to your name.

Full guide can be found here.

In some cases you may not want to display this.  We get it!  So you can toggle this option.

Red means it hides the status, and green means it displays.

Disable In-Game Overlay

Another great thing about Curse is its integration with many best loved games. This allows you to have who you are chatting with in Curse right in game with you without having to alt tab out.

Full guide can be found here.

The controls you need right at your finger tips!

When in a group call you will have tabs of who all is also in the call session.

Disable Auto Match

Auto matching allows you to automatically join other Curse users in matches, PUGs, or other group gameplay without having to share personal information.

Full guide can be found here.

Having this feature turned on will auto match you with other Curse users in your raid/groups/team if the game allows it.

Curse Closing Behavior

There are a lot of options in this section that can customize how the Curse client behaves.

For this you need to locate the Preferences section, and then the When I click "X" subsection.

The first three options are how the Curse client will behave when you click on the "X" in the upper corner.

You have three options:

  • Minimize Curse to the Task bar

  • Minimize Curse to the system tray

  • Exit Curse
