[FAQ] Screen Sharing

So you've got questions about the Curse App's Screen Sharing? Well, we have a list of some of the most common ones we think that users will be asking about right here for you. Hopefully this will help assist you while you are exploring Curse app!


Q. Which platforms is Screen Sharing available on?

A.  You can use screen sharing on:

  • Windows PC
  • Mac

Screen sharing is not available for browsers, or mobile at this time. 



Q. I don't see the screen sharing option. Why can't I use this?

A.  The first thing to check is how many people are in your call. Video calls and screen sharing can only support up to 5 people currently.

The last thing that may cause this is if you’re in a server. Video calls and screen sharing currently can only be used in friend to friend, groups, multi-friend, and ad-hoc calls.



Q. Will screen sharing allow others to see my IP address?

A.   No! Your privacy and security is our top priority. Making a video call or screen sharing with Curse will not expose your IP to anyone else in the call. Just be careful what you choose to display on your screen.



Q. Which types of calls are eligible to use screen sharing?

A. Friend to Friend, Groups (with 5 members or less), multi-friend, and ad-hoc calls can use video and screen sharing.

Please note that Servers, and any type with over 5 people cannot use screen sharing.



Q. How do I start screen sharing?

A.  Right-click on someone in your friend's list and start a call with them. Then select the screen sharing icon in the bottom tool bar in the call screen. You can check out our guide here for more information.



Q. What about other features such as fullscreen, or a preview window?

A. These are features we would love to have, but won’t be available in this first release.  We're considering them for the future!



Q. I found a bug, where do I report it?

A. Easy! Just click the “?” icon in the lower-left corner of Curse App, then choose Report a Bug. You can check out this guide for detailed instructions.



Q. I want to provide feedback, where can I do this?

A. There are several ways to give us feedback. After ending a video call, you may be presented with an option to provide feedback. You can also click the “?” icon, then Give Feedback.

Q. Where can I find the settings for screen sharing?

A. There are currently no specific settings for screen sharing.



Q. How many people can be in a screen sharing call?

A.   Currently, we must limit calls to 5 or less people. We hope to be able to expand this in the future.



Q. Can only one person screen share in a call?

A.   Nope, multiple people can screen share while in a single call.



Q. My games in Full Screen Mode and does not work with the screen sharing Application Window option.  How can I fix it?

A.  Switch your game to Windows (Full Screen) Mode instead.



Q. My game is showing black/white in the Application Window option.  What's wrong?

A. Some games, like Minecraft, are known to have issues with screen sharing or streaming software. If you can try using the Entire Screen option for those games.



Q. Why is the Curse App crashing when I try to share my screen?

A. We're aware of an issue affecting Windows 10 if you have higher than 100% DPI scaling and attempt to share your entire screen. Please try changing your computer's display scaling settings to 100% or lower, or share an individual window instead.
